Handling Direct Donations
It is possible to receive donations that lack the tracking ID, either by omission of the donor or because the donor never entered a pledge (and so didn’t get an ID). To use the Seamless Donations donor management functions, this donation needs to get entered into the database.
The admin can select the “Manual Donation Entry” item on the dashboard left-hand menu. A donation form is displayed to collect the relevant information as best can be determined from the donation and any accompanying information (such as a letter with a paper check). If a Cause can be determined (such as a note that the donation should help Mary), the ID of that cause should be entered; that may require looking through the Cause posts and noting the ID.
The same donation form is shown to the admin as to donors, so donation form controls (found under Seamless Donations > Form Options), such as Employer Match, affect both. Fields required for entry (such as donor Email) may not be able to be determined from a direct donation so a standard “unknown email” address is needed; so enter [email protected]
