Joseph Y’s Story

Joseph’s story clearly demonstrates the need of many children in  Gbawe who live in similar circumstances. He urgently needs help through our sponsorship program.

Joseph lives with his aging grandmother. He has a job selling old newspapers and does house chores for other people in the community, such as sweeping, washing and cooking in order to help his grandmother make ends meet, or to receive a meal for the day.

This affects his education. Working and helping his grandmother means Joseph can’t go to school regularly. Yet he is eager to attend school, and sells newspaper to try to pay for his education by himself. Joseph has no other source of assistance.  Such hard work and determination to receive an education must be rewarded, and we hope that with a sponsorship Joseph can focus on his education and enjoy more time to be a child.

Joseph has just completed Gbawe Methodist Junior High School and now needs help to start High School.

For just a dollar a day, or a one-time donation, you can give him a chance to escape poverty by providing him with some of life’s basic needs – being able to attend classes, receive vaccines, clean water and books.
