Summary:

To this day, access to education is not a granted universal right. Children face many obstacles in their path toward attending school and receiving a formal education. It is important that schools identify these children and create mechanisms that prevent them from dropping out of school and missing the opportunity of a better future. PAAJAF is committed to providing education to all children In Gbawe regardless of their backgrounds, gender and learning constraints. 

Challenge

Social aspects can undermine the universal right to education to these children. Poverty tends to make it more difficult for children to reach school, as families perceive generating more household in more important than education. The rate of drop-out in these cases is also higher. Although there is a fair equity school attendance between boys and girls in Ghana, girls’ education should not be overlooked as an important element for inclusiveness. Girls are more likely to drop out of school to help with family care and housework. The distance to school and poor school conditions can also prevent children from attending.

Solution

To overcome these obstacles, PAAJAF Foundation must provide both a safe space to learn and high-quality education that promotes inclusiveness. This goal can only be achieved with the help of donors like you, who can enable PAAJAF to continue providing quality education, spaces for playing, healthy meals and sanitation facilities.

Long-term Impact

The more children in Gbawe who are able to attend school, the better chance we have to break the cycle of poverty in Greater Accra. PAAJAF offers an environment where children will not be marginalized because of their background, gender or learning ability. By creating a healthy, comfortable and safe schooling environment, children are more likely to attend and to be prevented from dropping out.
